How do I register my child?
You can now
register
your child online. Or, you fill out a copy of the registration brochure (PDF). You can also pick up a brochure at:
- any Rutherford County library
- any city/town hall or the county courthouse
- the Health Department or area hospitals
- Parks & Recreation locations
- Murfreesboro Housing Authority
What happens after we register?
You should begin receiving books within eight to ten weeks after your registration form is submitted. After your child is registered, you will receive a new, age-appropriate book in the mail every month until your child reaches his/her fifth birthday.
My child is already registered, but we have moved. How do I change my address?
If you are moving to a new address within Rutherford County, please contact us with your new address so you can continue to receive books. Please email your new address to rbfb@linebaugh.org or call 615-893-4131. Please do not re-register your child.
If you are moving to a different county within Tennessee, your child will exit the Rutherford County program. You should call toll-free 1-877-99-books or visit www.governorsfoundation.org to see if Books from Birth is available in your new community.
If you were registered in a different county and have just moved to Rutherford County, you need to notify the program for your previous home county that you have moved. You will need to register your child for Rutherford County's program.
If you are moving outside of Tennessee, please contact the Dollywood Foundation at 865-428-9606 to see if your new community has the Imagination Library program.
Can I register a child over the phone?
No. Registrations should be done using the registration brochure or completed
online.
What if my child is not a newborn?
A child can register for the Imagination Library at any point up to his/her fifth birthday. After your child turns five, we encourage you to get a library card for him/her at the Linebaugh
Public Library system or at La Vergne Library.
What if I have more than one child?
Each child is eligible to register and start his/her own library. New titles are introduced each year so younger siblings will not receive the exact same books as their older siblings.
Does my child have to live in this county?
Tennessee Imagination Library programs are organized by county, so a child must register in the county where he/she lives. If you live in a county other than Rutherford County, call the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation toll-free at 1-877-99-BOOKS or visit
www.governorsfoundation.org to see if your county is participating.
How do I donate money to the Books from Birth program?
We depend on community support to cover our costs, and we welcome your donations. You can choose to sponsor one child for one or more years, for as little as $13.99. Or you can choose to endow a child. With your gift of $270, you can sponsor one child per year forever. Please see our donation page for more information.
Who chooses the books?
The Dollywood Foundation has a team of early childhood development specialists that selects the books in the Imagination Library to fit the needs of children at each age from birth to their fifth birthday.
Can I register my whole Headstart/daycare/pre-K class?
Registration is best done by a parent or legal guardian to ensure that one child is not unintentionally registered by multiple adults, which increases the cost of the program and adds confusion to the list of registered children.
